It essential to know that Pollination is a process that is more than important for plants. Plants reproduce only because the process of pollination takes places and bees, which are often considered as unimportant play a huge part in the entire thing. Most plants depend on bees or other insects as pollinators. That is reproduction in some plants won’t be possible if bees didn’t exist. But human activity has kept this process from being a regular and easy task. Since bees rely on their sense of smell to identify different flowers, Air Pollution is affecting the bees.

How Air Pollution Is Affecting The Bees?

Bees are a key part of the global food system where they pollinate almost 75% of our food crops. Air Pollution masks the scent molecules from plants, which makes it pretty difficult for the bees to surge through the air to really understand the smell. This makes them forage longer leading to becoming ineffective pollinators. Other than Air Pollution, Climate change which is also in a way differed due to the ever-increasing particulate matter in the air, the seasonal activities of the wild bees are affected.

Moreover, pesticides which are now used in almost all kinds of agricultural activities; hamper or threaten the species diversity and colony numbers of the very useful bees. These threats to the way bees are being distressed can be normalized if we try to normalize the Air pollution in the air. Usage of sustainable farming practices and restoring key habitat can all benefit the bees. Air Pollution is affecting the bees. If we don’t understand this little thing, these tiny creatures will start facing grave difficulties when it comes to existence and following the food cycle in the right ways.
