A study has revealed that the air pollution level in Delhi is responsible of roughly 10,000 to 30,000 annual deaths. This implies that the capital city loses 80 lives every day due to air pollution from PM2.5.
According to the study of Delhi-based non-benefit Center for Science and Environment also released the same number of 10,000 annual deaths in Delhi due to air pollution. It was reported to the media publications across the country with the headline.

Outdoor air pollution is the fifth largest killer in India. Worldwide Burden of Disease ponder in 2013 estimated roughly 627,000 premature deaths in India for 2010 because of PM 2.5. Most of them were of ischemic heart diseases and it also claimed a greater number of lives than respiratory diseases. It also stated that total number of deaths around the world due to air pollution from PM2.5 is 3.2 Million deaths per annum.
Delhi As Most Polluted City In The World, 2014
According to the study of World Health Organisation (WHO) 2014, it named Delhi as the most polluted city in the world. 13 out of the top 20 polluted cities were from India only. In the study, the biggest source of air pollution in Delhi was from particulate matter, PM2.5.
Some studies also estimate that the number of deaths per hour in Delhi due to air pollution will increase by three times in next 20 years. It also says if the preventive measure is not made, these numbers could ascend by 20 to 30 percent.
Government of India has not yet taken any preventive measures to reduce air pollution in Delhi. It seems to be very careless and like an unimportant area to take care of. The public also has the same responsibility to reduce the pollution level in the city as well.
