Are we the next Refugees?

Heard of “Smog Refugee?” No?
Well! Smog Refugees has been an apparent term which is being heard recently where generally denoting as the people taking Refugee and fleeing away from a blanket of smoke and toxic gases in the environment.

Now let’s get the backstory of why and how people are fleeing away, shall we?

Not too long ago, in December of last year i.e. 2016, China went through a sort of “airpocalypse” as the term may be denoted, where 23 cities up North of China were marked with a red alert by the government, which is the highest amount of danger level on the Air Quality Scale standards.

According to the World Health Organization(WHO), where the standard level of micrograms per cubic meter is 10 micrograms on an average, cities like Shijiazhuang and Beijing had the PM2.5 level exceeding up to 1000 micrograms which were way too unhealthy.

In countries like China with a population in the Nothern cities equivalent to places like Mexico, Canada and the U.S with 460 million being affected by such calamities, according to Greenpeace, the rich take the option of fleeing away to the Southside to save themselves from the blanket of toxic fuels.

It is not only about China, countries like India, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, to name a few along with China are the most polluted countries in the world and stating that people wanting to migrate to less polluted countries other than their own just to save themselves from pollution is not going to be a very rare phenomenon in the coming time due to the increasing amount of AQI levels and the increasing amount of heavy smog in these regions.
Where running from our own country won’t be a factor due to war, food or shelter but it is stated that Environmental factors like Air Pollution are going to be the major reason to dip the economy and the reason to leave.
