The air quality of the city is continuously found between poor and unhealthy.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif; color: #000000;\">According to the latest research, the city\u2019s bad air quality is due to vehicular emission. There are over 800 vehicles on the road per 1000 people. Yet, this is not the only reason why pollution in Chandigarh is still a major disturbance among the residents.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif; color: #000000;\">Chandigarh is a union territory which serves as the capital of Haryana and Punjab. It is located at the foothills of the great Himalayas in the northwest region of India. This has become a grave situation for the city\u2019s residents as they struggle to breathe clean air every day. According to the WHO guidelines, particulate matter 10 must be under 20 \u00b5g\/m3 and PM 2.5 must be 10 \u00b5g\/m3. <\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif; color: #000000;\">However, it has been observed that Chandigarh is facing great challenges against the rising pollution level. CPCB (Central Pollution Control Board) need to take serious and immediate steps against the alarming pollution rise.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif; color: #000000;\">What can be done to fight against the pollution in Chandigarh?<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-2114\" src=\"https:\/\/www.aqi.in\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/chandigarh-pollution-aqiindia-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"pollution in Chandigarh\" width=\"719\" height=\"404\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif; color: #000000;\">A scientist of CPCC recently said that the <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.aqi.in\/blog\/what-is-particulate-matter-and-its-health-effects\/\"><strong>ambient air quality<\/strong><\/a><\/span> in Chandigarh has been mainly affected by emissions produced by motor vehicles.\u00a0The city has the highest per capita number of cars in the country.\u00a0For the last five-six years, Chandigarh has been taking measures to tackle the problem of vehicular emissions, the action plan will further intensify the implementation of those measures.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif; color: #000000;\">Fighting air pollution has become a national mission.
