Dust Storm in India has really hiked in the last 2 years. The range of AQI (Air Quality Index) can be seen fluctuating between unhealthy and hazardous air quality in the month of May and thereof.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Last year, in May 2018, northern India suffered great loss with dust storm taking place in major states covering Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Haryana, and\u00a0Rajasthan. Over 100’s of people lost their lives in the massive dust storm.<\/span><\/p>\n

What causes a Dust Storm in India?<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

A\u00a0dust storm is a meteorological phenomenon common in arid and semi-arid regions.\u00a0Dust storms\u00a0arise when a gust front or other strong wind blows loose sand and\u00a0dirt from a dry surface. Fine particles are transported by saltation and suspension, a process that moves soil from one place and deposits it in another.<\/span><\/p>\n

  1. Close the doors and windows.<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. Draw the curtains of your room.<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. Install air purifier.<\/span><\/li>\n
  4. Check temperature and humidity of your indoor premises.<\/span><\/li>\n
  5. Stay indoors to avoid breathing unhealthy air particles.<\/span><\/li>\n
  6. Stay hydrated and always carry enough supply of drinking water during high pollution alert.<\/span><\/li>\n
  7. Wear-protected gear such as pollution mask, airtight goggles during sandstorm season.<\/span><\/li>\n
  8. Cover your face, especially nose and mouth using a damp cloth when indoors.<\/span><\/li>\n
  9. Wait for the storm to stop.<\/span><\/li>\n
  10. Apply petroleum jelly to the inside of your nostrils to prevent dust particles to get inside.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    7. Avoid rubbing your eyes in order to prevent eye infection.<\/span><\/li>\n
    8. Do not use hazard lights, unless you have parked your car in the safe zone.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
    9. During a heavy sandstorm, sharp objects can fly \u2013 find shelter and don\u2019t forget to cover your head.<\/span><\/li>\n
    10. Do not put the air conditioning in your car directly on to your face and in a very cool mode as the chances of you directly inhaling fine dust particles are very high.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
