On the occasion of World Environment Day 2019, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change has released a peppy new track titled “Hawa Aane De” which is written in a way that sends out a message while also getting stuck in one’s mind. The Hawa Aane De Campaign loops on the line “Thodi hawa aane de, Tazi hawa aane de…Thodi hawa aane de, Tazi hawa aane de” and is bound to remain in playlists for quite some time.
Since the theme of this year’s universal plan by the United Nations Environment Programme is Air Pollution – This is a much-needed step towards raising awareness and action in India. The country has taken Air Pollution as a casual concern for years it’s time the people take it seriously. The song is a powerful collaboration between the ministry and Bhamla Foundation – A NGO that works across themes that include health, child rehabilitation, woman empowerment & environment awareness.
The track features big names including Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar who is at the front of the tracks face value. We can see how the track is purposely designed to cater to Akshay’s fan following that mostly consists of people who have been supporting his cause of social commentary with films like Padman & Toilet – Ek Prem Katha.
Vicky Kaushal (who recently starred in URI – The Surgical Strike) also makes an appearance in the song along with Rajkumar Rao (of Newton fame). However, it is a little odd to see Kapil Sharma get featured in a video that mostly consists of stars who have been professing social/developmental message prior to this video. Top choreographer Shiamak Dhawar and his team also feature along with musicians – Shankar Mahadevan, Sunidhi Chauhan, Shaan, and Shantanu Mukherjee who have all sung the song for the Hawa Aane De Campaign.
The main focus of the video seems to be tackling the issue of climate change and Air Pollution that is also hampering the children who are the future of the nation. Since the Air in the country has been constantly getting toxic with every passing day, the track is aimed to be a call-to-action for everyone in the country who has been avoiding the issue of Air Pollution up until now. According to the press release from the Ministry the track is meant to be a symbol of unison so that the people combat environmental challenges that have plagued our times.
