We all are well aware of the pollution in Delhi. Yesterday the city woke up with a thick blanket of smog. Within 24 hours of pollution, the city residents are breathing in polluted air with no scope of fresh air.

Pollution in Delhi has become severe and people are complaining about difficulty in breathing. As per AQI India monitoring device installed in various location across in the city, the monitor chartered pollution in Delhi which is in shocking values. As per the last value is drawn, as of 05/11/2018, the city breathed an AQI 918 which is way beyond the threshold.

With the help of the outdoor monitors, we were also able to narrow down the level of particulate matter (PM2.5) which are tiny particles in the air that reduce visibility and cause the air to appear hazy when levels are elevated.

Along with PM2.5, the monitor also registered data for PM10, particulate matter 10 micrometers or less in diameter which is also dangerous to human health if inhaled.

Pollution in Delhi Poses Constant Health Risks

As we breathe polluted air, the pollutants penetrate and inflame the outer lining of our bronchial tubes and lungs, which poses threats to our health.

Respiratory illness such as Chronic Bronchitis, Lung Cancer, Emphysema, Asthma, Coughing, Wheezing are some health risks that Delhi residents may develop due to being exposed to the bad air quality. 

Elderly people, pregnant woman, and children are the most vulnerable to the dangerous effects of air pollution. As their defense mechanism is evolving and they inhale a higher volume of air as per their body weight than an average person. 

People who have asthma are at a higher risk as it is the most common chronic illness. With the increase in pollution in Delhi, more children are being affected becoming a grave situation that is getting out of hand.
